Mookaite (also spelled mookaite jasper) is a microcrystalline silica formed from the remains of radiolaria — microscopic sea creatures — that accumulated in the Windalia Radiolarite formation of Western Australia near the Mooka Creek. Its name comes from the Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges area. The colours — red, yellow, cream, mauve, and combinations — come from various iron oxide and mineral inclusions.
